In terms of display, the Google Pixel 7 Pro features a 6.7-inch QHD+ resolution 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen with LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Silicon Oxide) up to 10Hz in certain scenarios, while the base version has a 6.3-inch screen with 90Hz refresh rate FHD+ resolution only.
The less pronounced curves around the edges of the display also help to reduce the visual thickness of the bezel from a visual perspective. Google says the screen is 20% brighter at peak compared to its predecessor, which will help with viewing in brighter environments. the OLED is covered in Gorilla Glass Victus glass panels, the same material used in the Pixel 6 Pro.
For imaging, Google has optimized the Pixel 6 series “camera bar” design. The polished anodized aluminum frame now encases the camera and leaves perforations for the three-lens configuration at the rear of the Pixel 7 Pro, as well as introducing IP68 water and dust resistance ratings to ensure adequate protection.
The Pro version comes with a 48MP telephoto lens (f/3.5) with 5x optical zoom, which is the only difference compared to the standard version. The range features a 50MP main camera (82° FOV, f / 1.85), a 12MP (114°, f / 2.2) ultra-wide angle (the Pixel 7 Pro also supports autofocus) and an 11.1MP (f / 2.2) front camera with 4K video recording.
In terms of features, the Pro version can also support macro mode via the ultra wide-angle camera, as well as 30x high-resolution zoom and 8x high-resolution zoom. In addition, both phones support features such as RealTone and Movie Motion Blur.
The second generation Tensor G2 is a slight improvement on its predecessor. It is built on a 4nm process with a 2+2+4 cluster design and includes a Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) for machine learning and a Titan M2 security co-processor.
The chip is described as 60% faster than the previous model. Thanks to new machine learning features, the Pixel performs even better in voice commands, photography and more.
Google Pixel 7 / Pro officially announced: Tensor G2 chip, 5x telephoto, from around RMB 4,247
In addition to the Tensor G2, the Pixel 7 Pro features LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage. The base version and Pixel 7 Pro come with 4355 mAh and 5000 mAh batteries respectively, and support 21W wired and 20W wireless charging, 23W wired fast charging and 20W+ wireless charging respectively.
Elsewhere, the Pixel 7 Series also features software-based face unlock, support for under-screen fingerprints, and IP68 water resistance.
The new phones come pre-installed with Android 13, which comes with Material You and an update to the Dynamic Colour theme, which was introduced in Android 12 last year. Improvements include a merged ‘Security and Privacy’ menu that incorporates device and account settings. Other highlights include an improved photo selector, language controls for individual apps, and much more.
In addition, the Pixel 7 Pro comes with a guaranteed five-year security update and will offer three OS upgrades.
